Description

Compress vocals, guitars, drums, basses, and virtually all things with the Black Lion Audio Seventeen 500, the company s double-slot, 500-series adaptation of its 19 rackmount Seventeen single-channel compressor. Seventeen 500 is all about modernizing the classic 76 FET compressor limiter engineers and musicians all know and love by keeping what works and sounds great while adding modern features and conveniences not found on the original 76. With its redesigned and improved IC-based front, the compressor provides a clean, punchy, modern sound under light compression and a more colorful vintage character when pushed. That front-end, when coupled with the company s custom-designed, made-in-Chicago output transformer delivers details and nuances with a huge bottom end that balances out its open top end very nicely. High-grade Nichicon signal capacitors and proprietary power decoupling ensure an incredibly low noise floor.

Designed for versatility from the get-go, Seventeen 500 offers a set of powerful modern features that expand the tonal palette of the original 76. Stereo link a pair of Seventeen 500s for drum bus, keyboards, backing vocals, or even entire mixes. Use the frequency adjustable sidechain—with selectable high- and low-pass filters—and the wet dry mix knob to dial in just the right amount of parallel compression, straight out of the box. Last but not least, the all-buttons-in mode makes it easier to engage multiple ratio controls simultaneously than on classic models. The Seventeen 500 is hand-assembled and tested in the USA.
